Itinerary

Day One

You depart early morning from OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg and travel towards Schoemans Kloof Pass and the Kruger National Park. There will be a comfort stop to stretch the legs and to purchase lunch (own expense), before continuing to the rest camp. Arriving in time to unpack and meet for sundowner cocktails at the main entertainment area. Afterwards meeting for dinner at the beautiful Selati Station Grill house, home to the Selati Express. The actual train that ran through the park bringing game viewing public to appreciate the splendour, that was then the Sabie Game Reserve. Throughout this historic station environment are pictures and posters depicting those early days and how game viewing and the park itself would have been back in the 1920’s.

Full Days

Each day follows a similar routine. The days will start with a game drive at sunrise. This is a beautiful time of the day in the bush and photography enthusiasts will be able to take lovely pictures of the wildlife and nature. Returning from the early morning game drive and breakfast will be served. During the day guests can relax inside the camp, do some curio shopping or just view the wild life from the banks of the Sabie River. Lunch (own expense) can be enjoyed at one of the restaurants at the rest camp. Late afternoon will you join a game drive, with one of the experienced field guides of the park. During the game drive will you search for the Big 5, cheetah, zebra and many more. Make sure you also make a point to enjoy the smaller game like the warthog and the beautiful birds, vultures and eagles in the park. You will return to the main camp in time to freshen up before you enjoy dinner.

Last Day

On this day will you have an option to sleep in or wander around the camp, taking in the last views of the lodge and surroundings. This is a good time for last minute shopping before you enjoy breakfast at the main restaurant. Shortly afterwards will you check-out and depart for OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.

About Skukuza Rest Camp

As the headquarters of the Kruger Park, Skukuza has become a little town in the middle of the bush. Its 1400 residents and thousands of daily visitors enjoy wonderful views through Sycamore Figs and Natal Mahoganies. Situated on the banks of the Sabie River, the camp’s activities and facilities are diverse, as are the area’s plant and wildlife. Accommodation options include campsites, 21 furnished safari tents, semi luxury bungalows, cottages and 4 guesthouses. It also features a doctor, a shop, a bank, a post office, a library, a museum, a restaurant and a cafeteria with decks overlooking the river.
